Treatment Options

During your initial visit, Dr. Balkany will perform an examination and gather information regarding your symptoms. In some cases, an ultrasound study of your legs may be necessary. At that point a specific treatment plan will be designed for your particular needs. We can help you to love your legs again. Call us today at either 419-382-9425 or 517-266-0242 to set up an appointment. Our treatment options include:

Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy is a well-proven, in-office, minimally invasive procedure used to treat the smaller and medium sized varicose veins, including “spider like” veins. The unhealthy veins are injected with a sclerosing agent which causes them to close down and eventually dissolve into the body.  A small gauge needle is used to perform the injections and most patients relate very little discomfort.

The number of treatments needed differs from patient to patient, depending on the extent of the problem. The procedure is relatively painless and each session can usually be performed in 10 to 15 minutes.

LASER ABLATION / ENDOVENOUS LASER ABLATION

Endovenous Laser Ablation is the newest technology available. This is a new, non-invasive, safer treatment for larger veins. During treatment, laser energy is delivered through a small puncture in the leg close to the diseased vein. No surgery is required; your leg is anesthetized and the procedure is relatively painless. The procedure is performed in our office in about an hour. You can return to work and resume regular activity within a day.

Compression hose are worn after the laser treatment. Excellent long-term results, with only one treatment, can make the endovenous laser procedure an attractive choice for treating your varicose veins.

Foam Sclerotherapy

A quick and efficient method of treatment for the medium and larger varicose veins that cannot be treated with the Endovenous Laser ablation procedure or simple sclerotherapy.

All of the above treatment options are covered by most insurance plans as well as Medicare and Medicaid.
